When a lion was brought to the Konnar zoo, it looked quite amusing with its long tongue and lolling tongue. The king of the jungle! Even the monkeys were not intimidated by it. One day, a circus visited and all the animals were excited as they knew that a show was going on. But one by one these animals entered their cages, running away from some something frightening... It was Ponnar who ran towards his cage in fear only to see his cage empty! In this very moment he realised that he had been freed from captivity and now he could run free outside with the other wild animals. The circus show began and it was a time for the lion to enter the arena. When Ponnar did not see him, he thought that the lion had been put in a cage beside his. He was a little relieved and a little worried too that he would accidentally awake the lion. The show began with acrobats swinging on ropes and aerial acts. The lions just sat there watching the performance, even when popcorn was thrown at them! When it was Ponnaar's turn to take part in the show, he just stood there with his eyes closed keeping still as if he were sleeping. It was an act of bravery! The audience kept staring at him until the trainer arrived and started chasing Ponnaar away from where he stood. The lion was taken off the stage and the show resumed. After the show, everyone went back home and it was time for Ponnaar to sleep. But he couldn't sleep as he knew that the lion was lying down in a cage very close to his own. He thought of sleeping for a moment but quickly woke up thinking that he might suffocate the lion unintentionally! The next day, Ponnaar saw his trainer sitting nearby with a whip in hand waiting to strike at him if he did anything wrong. And so, once again he didn't even blink an eyelid when people came near him. He ran to the lion cage at night when everyone was asleep and he scratched at the cage to wake up the lion. But no luck. He scratched again and again but to no avail. He turned around to see if there was any other way he could scratch or awake the lion but all he saw was an empty cage. Although Ponnar felt relieved that there was no imminent danger of waking up the lion, he still wanted to relieve his boredom in his old way of running away from everyone. So one day when all the circus people were sleeping, Ponnaar ran away into a cave that was located in one corner of this park. He went to sleep there and was awoken by the lion the next morning. He expected him to get angry but was surprised to find that he did not even notice his presence! m amazement, Ponnar looked at the lion's eyes and realised that they were still looking at him! He had lost sight of his own eyes because of their similarity with the lion's! From this day onwards, Ponnaar met the lion every night in this cave for several months... One day when Ponnaar was walking along a path leading to another part of the park, he saw Veena coming towards him. She too was running away from her family. They both hid behind some bushes on seeing each other. cfa1e77820
